By using a slow cooker, it is quite easy to whip up a batch of homemade glycerin soap without all of the hassles that are usually involved.

Making glycerin soap the traditional way can be quite a chore. Melting the glycerin in a double boiler can be quite tedious while microwaving it can result in a splattered mess that must be cleaned up later.

Doing things that way took much of the fun out of making glycerin soap and it really wasn't worth all of the effort. The good news, however, is that there is a much simpler way to make homemade glycerin soap. By utilizing a slow cooker the process can be quite easy. This method makes soapmaking so simple and fun that it will be hard to resist making several batches.

Assemble the Supplies

Supplies will first need to be purchased in order to make glycerin soap in a slow cooker. The following items are all required to begin:

  • Glycerin Blocks
  • Oven-safe Dish
  • Slow Cooker
  • Oven Mitts
  • Molds
  • Coloring
  • Fragrance
  • Wooden Skewers

Once all of those items have been purchased, it is then time to begin making homemade glycerin soap.

Cooking Up Some Glycerin Soap

Begin by cutting the glycerin blocks into small cubes of about 1/2-inch in size. Place the cubes in the oven-safe glass dish. Fill the dish until it is full, but not heaping. Next, place it inside the slow cooker's ceramic pot. Place the lid on the slow cooker and set the temperature to high. Allow the contents to cook for one hour or until the glycerin has melted. Be sure to check in periodically to ensure that the glycerin does not overcook.

A Dash of Color and a Pinch of Fragrance

Turn the slower cooker off and remove the lid. While wearing ovens mitts, carefully pour the melted glycerin into molds. Add coloring and fragrance, as desired. Use a wooden skewer to stir the contents of each mold until it is mixed completely.

All That's Left to Do is Wait

The soap should be allowed to harden before being removed from the molds. This should take about one hour, but more time may be required. The soap should not be used right away. instead, allow 24 hours to ensure that it is completely cool and sufficiently set to withstand usage.

Get Creative With Glycerin Soap

Making glycerin soap in a slow cooker really is so easy that creating batch after batch will be no trouble at all. When making homemade glycerin soap one is really only limited by their own imagination. Different molds, color, and scents can all be used to create unique bars of glycerin soap that are ideal for giving.
